Help: Tag Cheat Sheet

This page lists every metatag available for tagging and searching, as well as additional information about syntax. For basic information about tags, what they are, and how to use them, see the tag help page.

Searching ^

These tags and syntaxes are used to search for posts.

Basics ^

cat dog
Search for posts that are tagged with both cat and dog. Tags are separated by spaces.
red_panda  african_wild_dog
Words within each tag are separated by underscores.
~cat ~dog
Search for posts that are tagged either cat or dog (or both). May not work well when combined with other syntaxes.
-chicken
Search for posts that don't have the chicken tag.
fox -chicken
Search for posts that are tagged with fox and are not tagged with chicken.
african_*
Search for posts with any tag that starts with african_, such as african_wild_dog or african_golden_cat. May not work well when combined with other syntaxes.

User-Based Metatags ^

These metatags are used to search for posts based on user-related information.

user:bob
Search for posts uploaded by the user Bob.
fav:bob
Search for posts favorited by the user Bob.
voted:bob
Search for posts that Bob voted (either up or down) on.
votedup:bob
Search for posts that Bob voted up.
voteddown:bob
Search for posts that Bob voted down.
approver:bob
Search for posts that were approved by Bob.
deleter:bob
Search for posts that were deleted by Bob.
sub:Bob
Search for any post in any of Bob's tag subscriptions.
sub:Bob:cute_animals
Search for any post in Bob's Cute Animals tag subscription group.

Post-Based Metatags ^

These metatags are used to search for posts based on post-related information.

Range Syntax

Some of the following metatags support searching for a range of values:

id:100
Search for the post with an ID of 100.
id:100..
id:>=100
Search for posts with an ID of 100 or greater.
id:..100
id:<=100
Search for posts with an ID of 100 or less.
id:>100
Search for posts with an ID greater than 100.
id:<100
Search for posts with an ID less than 100.
id:100..200
Search for posts with an ID between 100 and 200 (inclusive).
id:100
Search for the post with an ID of 100. Accepts range syntax (see above).
rating:safe
rating:questionable
rating:explicit
Search for posts that are rated safe, questionable, or explicit. rating:s, rating:q, and rating:e also work.

Search for the post with the given MD5 hash. MD5 hashes are unique and will never be shared by more than one image (except in extremely rare circumstances).

Search for posts with the given file extension.
source:example.com
Search for posts with a source that includes the string 'example.com'.
description:string
Search for posts with a description that includes the string 'example.com'. You can also use the shorter desc:string metatag.

Search for posts either with or without a source.
hasdescription:true
hasdescription:false
Search for posts either with or without a description. You can also use the shorter hasdesc:true / hasdesc:false metatags.
width:100
height:100
Search for posts with a given width or height, in pixels. Accepts range syntax (see above).
score:100
Search for posts with a score of 100. Accepts range syntax (see above).
views:100
Search for posts with a view count of 100. Accepts range syntax (see above).
mpixels:1
Search for posts with 1 million pixels (1 megapixel; a 1000x1000 image has 1 million pixels). Accepts range syntax (see above).
ratio:1.33
Search for posts with a ratio of 4:3. For ease of searching, all ratios are rounded to two digits, therefore 1.33 will return posts with a ratio of 4:3. Accepts range syntax (see above).
filesize:200KB
Search for posts with a filesize of 200 kilobytes. Best used in a range, since the chances of guessing a post's file size exactly are low. Accepts range syntax (see above).
date:2012-04-27
Search for posts uploaded on a certain date in the format year-month-day (in this case, April 27, 2012). Accepts range syntax (see above).
comments:2
Search for posts with two total comments. Accepts range syntax (see above).
tagcount:2
Search for posts with two total tags. Accepts range syntax (see above).
gentags:2
arttags:2
chartags:2
copytags:2
speciestags:2
Search for posts with two general, artist, character, copyright, or species tags. Accepts range syntax (see above).
status:pending
status:active
status:flagged
status:deleted
status:any
Search for posts with the given status. status:any is special and can be used to show both active and deleted posts in one search.
parent:1234
Search for posts that have post #1234 as a parent.
parent:none
Search for posts that have no parent.
ischild:true
ischild:false
Search for posts that either do or do not have a parent post. ischild:false is the same as parent:none.
isparent:true
isparent:false
Search for posts that either have at least one child post, or that have no children.
inpool:true
inpool:false
Search for posts that either are or are not in a pool. By combining inpool:true with other tags, you can find pools with certain themes.
unlocked:rating
Search for posts with unlocked ratings.

Sorting ^

By default, posts are ordered from highest ID to lowest ID (newest posts first). This is the same as order:id_desc.

order:id
Order search results in ascending order based on post ID (oldest first). order:id_desc does the reverse, sorting from highest ID to lowest ID (newest first).
order:score
Order search results from highest score to lowest score. order:score_asc does the reverse, sorting from lowest score to highest score.
order:views
Order search results from most viewed to least viewed. order:views_asc does the reverse, sorting from lowest view count to highest view count.
order:random
Order search results randomly.
order:favcount
Order search results in descending order based on number of favorites (most first). order:favcount_asc does the reverse, sorting from fewest favorites to most favorites.
order:tagcount
Order search in descending order of number of tags (most tags first). order:tagcount_asc does the reverse, sorting from fewest tags to most tags.
order:comments
Order search in descending order of number of comments (most comments first). order:comments_asc does the reverse, sorting from fewest comments to most comments.
order:mpixels
Order search results in descending order based on resolution (largest first). order:mpixels_asc does the reverse, sorting from
order:filesize
Order search results in descending order based on file size (largest first). order:filesize_asc does the reverse, sorting from smallest files to largest files.
order:ratio
Order search results in descending order based on aspect ratio (widest first). order:ratio_asc does the reverse, returning taller and thinner posts first.
order:landscape
Simply a shortcut for order:ratio, ordering posts from wide and short to tall and thin.
order:portrait
Simply a shortcut for order:ratio_asc, ordering posts from tall and thin to wide and short.

Tagging ^

These tags are used to apply new tags to posts, and to alter additional information about them.

Basics ^

cat dog
Tag a post with the tags cat and dog. Tags are separated by spaces.
red_panda  african_wild_dog
Words within each tag are separated by underscores.

Prefixes ^

You can apply a prefix to a tag to change its type, which changes what color it shows up as in the tag list. Prefixes are removed for display, so artist:alice will only show up as alice.

general:food
Prefix a tag with general: (or gen:) to remove any type.
artist:alice
Prefix a tag with artist: (or art:) to type it as an artist.
character:john
Prefix a tag with character: (or char:) to type it as a character.
copyright:disney
Prefix a tag with copyright: (or copy:) to type is as a copyright.
species:cat
Prefix a tag with species: (or spec:) to type is as a species. Species tags include things like wolf, dog, thylacine, lagomorph, etc.

Metatags ^

These special tags are used to alter information about a post, but not change their tags. These tags do not show up in the list of tags next to the post.

rating:safe
rating:questionable
rating:explicit
Rates a post as either safe, questionable, or explicit. rating:s, rating:q, and rating:e also work.
parent:1234
Sets the post's parent ID to 1234. If the parent ID is the same as the post ID, then the parent ID will be cleared.
pool:extinct_animals
pool:10
Adds the post to the pool with the given name (in this case, "Extinct Animals"), or to the pool with the given ID (in this case, pool #10). Make sure to replace spaces with underscores. If the pool with the given name doesn't exist, it will be automatically created.
-pool:extinct_animals
-pool:10
Removes the post from the pool with the given name (in this case, "Extinct Animals"), or from the pool with the given ID (in this case, pool #10). Make sure to replace spaces with underscores.
